Are you unhappy with the appearance of your nose? If you have been thinking about getting a nose job or rhinoplasty in Phoenix or Scottsdale, then here are some things you should consider.

The overall attractiveness of a face has almost everything to do with symmetry.  The more proportionate a face, the more beautiful people consider it to be.  For many people, their noses seem disproportionately large, wide, or crooked.  If that is the case for you, then you might consider rhinoplasty to correct it.

Dr. Farhan Taghizadeh at Arizona Facial Plastics is an expert in ethnic rhinoplasty.  As a Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon and Board-Certified in Ear, Nose, and Throat surgeon, he has completed hundreds of rhinoplasty procedures.  Not only does he care about how your nose looks, he also makes sure that your nose works better, helping you breathe more easily after your surgery.

At your initial consultation, Dr. Taghizadeh and his staff will take several pictures to map the general symmetry of your face.  One thing we see a lot is that patients who are concerned about the look of their nose often have recessed or small chins.  We will map your face with our Vectra 3D imaging software to show you the correct proportions so that you achieve the most symmetrical result possible.  Dr. Taghizadeh will also show you how your face may look after the rhinoplasty surgery with our photo morphing software.

When having an ethnic rhinoplasty, it’s important to select a physician who understands and can deliver the most aesthetically pleasing result—and also a nose that works well.  It can take up to a year for your nose to heal completely, so be prepared to be patient through the healing process.  With the right surgeon and the right expectations, you’ll achieve the most aesthetically appealing nose for your face.

Nose Job Surgeries in Phoenix

I remember that when I was growing up, there were always jokes about kids getting a “nose job” as a gift on their 16th birthday.  It seemed like one plastic surgery that people were always interested in because the perfect nose could make you look amazing.

Over time, nose jobs—officially called rhinoplasty—have only grown in popularity to become one of the most common facial aesthetic procedures.  If you are considering getting a nose job in Phoenix or Scottsdale, here are some things to consider.

  1. Experience Matters. While many doctors call themselves “plastic surgeons,” very few have specialized training in cosmetic surgery of the face.  While general plastic surgeons are able to do body and face surgery, most Facial Plastic Surgeons specialize in surgeries for the face.  This means that they have a lot more training and experience with how noses should look, what the internal structure of a nose is, and how to make your nose fit most beautifully and naturally with your face.

  1. Proportionality is Key. Many people spend hours online looking at pictures of celebrities who have the cutest button noses.  When you focus solely on the shape of the nose, however, you are missing an essential key of why you think a face is beautiful.  The nose has to be proportional to the other features on your face.  Make sure that during your consultation the doctor is assessing your chin position, the rotation of your nose, and also looking at your other features to make sure that your new nose will be the correct size for your face.

  1. Healing Takes a Year. Noses take a long time to heal after a rhinoplasty.  Most people will be in a nose cast for about two weeks.  Once the cast comes off you’ll be excited to see your new nose, but be careful to realize that your nose healing is not complete.  Many people can remain swollen for up to six months.  The different parts of your nose can take up to a full year to heal, so realize that you will have to be patient to see results.

  1. Revisions are Not Uncommon. Because of the delicate healing process, many people find that at the end of a year there are still aspects of their nose that they want to “tweak”.  These minor revisions are not uncommon.  Be prepared to pay for additional revisions in the case that your nose is not exactly what you wanted.  Also realize that nose surgery is an art, not a science.

With these things in mind, look for a Board Certified Facial Plastic surgeon like Dr. Farhan Taghizadeh of Arizona Facial Plastics.  Schedule a consultation and see what could be possible to get you the nose you are looking for!
